Epic Games promised a few weeks ago that we’d soon see a competitive Battle Royale mode in the hit sensation that is Fortnite. Today they delivered with the limited time only mode, Solo Showdown. Unlike other limited time only modes, this one is not a departure from the regular Battle Royale. The only difference here is that it’s ranked. You still drop in, gather resources and weapons, eliminate other players, and try to be the last one standing. Only now you have more reason to be strategic. This is exactly what Epic needed to do to solve the issue that began with Tilted Towers. They were even able to do it while keeping everyone happy.
Sure, keeping score is great, but what’s the point if nothing’s at stake? Well, Epic has put V-bucks on the line. That’s right, the top 100 eligible players will receive cold, hard V-bucks. Here’s what to look forward to if you ake it into the top 100.
1st Place: 50,000 V-Bucks
2nd – 4th Place: 25,000 V-Bucks
5th – 50th Place: 13,500 V-Bucks
51st – 100th Place: 7,500 V-Bucks
Players will be scored on their first 50 consecutive games of this LTM depending first upon where they place. In the event of any ties, other stats such as kills and damage will be used to determine who places where. Score by placing is a follows.
|11 – 15||55|
|16 – 20||50|
|21 – 30||45|
|41 – 50||35|
|51 – 75||30|
|76 – 100||25|
For updates on who’s placing, or for questions about eligibility, see Epic’s page. This Limited time mode ends on May 21st at 10 AM so get your games in now! Epic promises to release more news on the emerging world of competitive Fortnite within the week!
